Social Responsability

Join the Movement

The coastal cleaning initiative was born during one of our family excursions, where we initially searched for lost objects on the beach with a metal detector. Although we found some items like coins and rings, we decided to focus on collecting plastic waste, such as bottles and bags, thanks to the suggestion of our children, Sebastián and Andrew.

This activity became a family habit, where the person who collected the least amount of trash would treat everyone to ice cream. This habit not only helped keep the beaches clean but also protected the animals that share their habitat with us. We have shared this experience with our visitors, inviting them to participate in trash collection during their visits. The idea is for this cleaning effort to be replicated anywhere in the world, not just here in the Galapagos.

Importance of Coastal Cleaning: It is important to emphasize that in the Galapagos, there are no trash cans on the beaches or in the streets. Trash must be collected and managed in people's homes, so each person is responsible for their own waste.

How Do Our Guests Contribute to Social Responsibility? 1% of the cost of each purchase made by our guests is allocated to coastal cleaning efforts on our beaches. Additionally, we organize annual tours for the children of the island who haven't had the chance to visit these sites. These tours are an opportunity for them to learn about the importance of protecting the environment. During the tours, we also gift them school supplies such as backpacks, pens, and notebooks.

Demonstrating the Initiative: We have invited more families and our guests to join our coastal cleaning excursions, encouraging participation in this activity. We also share photos to show the impact of our efforts.
